NIPSC delivers internet to public schools

Having formed a partnership with the Commission on Information and Communications Technology (CICT) on July 2007 to implement the 2nd Phase of the Internet in Schools (iSchools) Project. http://cict.bluwiki.com/, Northern Iloilo Polytechnic State College (NIPSC) in Estancia, Iloilo, qualified seven public high schools from the fourth and fifth districts of Iloilo against the CICT standards.
The project aims to bridge the digital divide among public high schools (PHS) by encouraging teachers to integrate ICT into the teaching and learning processes.
The recipient PHS received 21 computer units, 2 units airconditioning systems, 1 unit multimedia projector, 1 unit 3-in1 printer and 1 unit router. Aside from the hardware provision, a 1-year free Internet connectivity was included in the package and 4 all-expense paid teachers’ trainings were integrated for the human capability building.
For NIPSC to become fully ready in carrying out its role, the NIPSC iSchools Project Team was organized and the CICT has transferred a project fund of P 1.2 million to NIPSC to ensure its successful implementation.
“The learning experiences we gained from all of the activities related to the project taught us to become better implementers of future ICT initiatives,” said Prof. Felicisico V. Wenceslao Jr., Project Manager, NIPSC iSchools Project.
